History 

The history of Orion LLP in Brooks can be traced back to 1989 which makes 2014 our 25th anniversary serving the accounting and tax needs of Brooks and Newell residents.

1989  In December Loren Mitchell established his public accounting practice in Brooks.

1991  Calvin Sturgeon established his practice, renting an office from Loren in the Squint Square building on 2nd Street West

1994  Loren and Calvin both relocated to the former Credit Union building beside the Zoo on 1st Street West and shortly after commenced practicing as MITCHELL & STURGEON.  

1996  The office moved to its present location in the Signature Square building on 2nd Street West.

2002  Robin Niebergall became a partner in the office after working in the office since 2000.  The office was renamed MITCHELL STURGEON NIEBERGALL.

2003  Loren Mitchell retired from the office resulting in another office name change.

2007  Darren Engel, previously a partner in another Brooks accounting firm, joined the office which became known as STURGEON NIEBERGALL ENGEL.

2011  Shelden Tjeerdema joined the accounting office in 2006 as a student and in 2011 became a partner.  At that time the decision was made to rename and rebrand the office as ORION LLP.

2016  Orion LLP is no longer associated with Darren Engel or his accounting practice effective as of the first of July.

2018 Bjornda Bjornson and Keith Branson are promoted to firm associates in December.

2019  After 27 years, Calvin Sturgeon announces the end to his public accounting career and leaves Orion LLP.
